The Public Works and Utilities Department is among the most visible of all Municipal departments. All residents receiving water, electricity, sanitary sewer, and storm water services are connected with Public Works and Utilities.
Our work doesn't stop there. The department's responsibilities extend even further, overseeing the electrical distribution system, street lighting and signage as well as the maintenance of all public streets, sidewalks, parks and trails, athletic fields, and bridges.

The Public Works Department protects the quality of life for Municipal residents by ensuring community infrastructure meets current and future needs. Recently, the Public Works Administration section has been working on capital projects such as the Blairmore Coleman Water System and the Bellevue/Hillcrest Wastewater Lagoon.
Snow Clearing
During the winter season, we have up to six snow removal vehicles available throughout the municipality. These consist of heavy sanding trucks and at least one grader per ward. Our snow removal priorities dictate clearing emergency routes, main thoroughfares and bus routes on the first day, then remaining in-town roads and country residential developments, and lastly in-town back lanes.
The cleaning and snow removal are done according to a priority schedule. Except in emergency situations, streets are signed "No Parking" 24 hours before the start of snow removal and spring cleaning.
Clean Up In the Spring, our Municipal Clean-Up, Toxic Round-Up and E-Waste Collection programs get underway. The 2010 Municipal Clean-Up has concluded.
