Electric Distribution (Wires Services) The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass owns and operates an Electrical Distribution System (the wires that deliver electricity to homes and businesses) in the Crowsnest Pass service area. Fortis also services parts of the Crowsnest Pass. The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass charges electricity retailers for the delivery of power. Retailers pass these charges on to their customers. Distribution charges are for funding the costs associated to operate and maintain the distribution system.
Distribution and Access charges are outlined in the Distribution Tariff, which have been filed with the regulator, Alberta Energy and Utilities Board. The Regulated Rate Tariff (RRT) is offered to residential customers and small business consumers that consume less than 250,000 kWh/year. Enmax Energy administers this service on behalf of Municipality of Crowsnest Pass.

Your Choice The competitive retail market continues to develop and you are able to shop for electricity in Alberta the same you shop for other goods and services. Several retailers provide electric services to the Crowsnest Pass residents. With respect to the natural gas services again consumers have a choice to either purchase natural gas from a natural gas direct marketers, or from the local natural gas company.
