By-Law Enforcement
The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass Bylaw Enforcement is a division of the Municipal protective services department. Our Bylaw Enforcement Officer enforces the Municipality's Bylaws as approved by Mayor and Council. The Bylaw Enforcement Officer is also appointed Special Constable by Alberta Justice for the enforcement of selected Provincial Statutes.

Special attention is paid to enforcing bylaws and statutes that protect the public safety and or the environment. Also bylaws that effect the quality of the visitor experience and quality of life of residents.

 

In general, bylaw enforcement will include:

  • respond to complaints from local citizens, elected officials and businesses
  • discuss bylaw requirements with the people involved and attempt to reach an understanding and obtain voluntary compliance with the bylaw
  • enforce bylaws by issuing violation tickets, traffic tags or orders to correct problems such as unsightly property
